2026.06.27例会報告
第513回 大宮トーストマスターズクラブ例会レポート
Hello one and all!
We were pleased to
welcome 3 guests to this meeting, which was changed to online only due to the
typhoon.
The downpour of rain did
not dampen our spirits though!
All the guests were `all
in` and made a great contribution to the meeting. The meeting also benefited
from this week`s attendance of a number of veteran members, who ensured a calm,
welcoming atmosphere for the new guests.
Reflecting on the past 2 weeks,
members gave short speeches, showering
us with images of: bears, blood sucking leeches, backward moving mountain bikes
and some insights about Taiwan.
The Table Topics
Session: (`On the Spot` speeches).
O san delivered another
thought provoking Table Topics session-one with a positive, summer flavor. An
antidote to the deluge outside. The questions were:
•
How do
you enjoy spending rainy days during the rainy season?
•
What is
your wish on a Tanabata tanzaka strip?
•
What do
you want to do this summer?
•
What is
your favorite thing to do on a summer night?
The speakers, especially the guests,
rose to the challenge, giving insightful and even touching speeches. There was
no awkward pausing and some interesting tidbits. Apparently, Okinawan food is
similar to Taiwanese food!
The Prepared Speeches session.
The
prepared speech of the day was delivered by IM-san, titled "Food
Kindness."
Any
fears that this speech might be a hectoring lecture on `meat is murder`
or some other virtue signaling were soon put to rest. IM san stated from the
onset-`this is not a speech telling you what to eat!`
IM
san spoke about how a chance meeting and personal difficulties, inspired her to
create a brand of gluten free ice cream. This speech was confidently delivered,
in a thoughtful and earnest fashion, sprinkled with personal anecdotes.
The
content gave us all `food for thought!`
The Speech Evaluation
Session
The evaluator of the
speech-F san, showcased on point feedback on the prepared speech. She praised
the confidence and `audience attention grabbing` skills of IM san and her
heartfelt content. F san, also offered great advice on the need for clarity in
chronicling a narrative.
Closing Remarks
The meeting also marked the handing of
the baton, from 1 set of Toast Masters` Officers to the next. Current
President, M san was highly praised for his sterling service and contribution
to the last year`s smooth management of the club. The incoming President -O
san, outlined her vision for the coming year. She wants to continue to build on
Japanese and English language capabilities and increase the membership.
10:00-12:00 Saturday Mornings, twice a month. Meeting schedule on the website.
